Burnt bowl - small
Ceramics by Coraleigh Alice.
A series of works made in recovered moulds previously used in the 80's and 90's. Clay was dug from the same property where it was used to form vessels. Glazed with hand mixed concoctions and fired in a 40 gallon drum Raku kiln. Pieces were placed, red hot, into piles of leaves fallen from the surrounding trees to be colored and reduced to give them the final texture and patterns.
The pieces are egg shell thin and extremely delicate. Not intended for general use, they are instead designed to be visually interesting and intriguing.
